Russia is already a country with strong media censorship, but a new bill was passed which could make the problem worse. Russia recently passed 4 new bills on March 14th, 2 of which are make it illegal to publish anything "expressing in an indecent form a clear disrespect" towards the Russian government while the other 2 ban the spread of fake news. However, this power could easily be abused as Russia already censors most government criticism, but now it can have the full power to call any criticism disrespect or fake. These bills are also against the Russian constitution, with Article 29 saying "The freedom of the mass media shall be guaranteed. Censorship shall be prohibited." This would dramatically increase the government's ability to censor media, hence giving them even more power.
